10s - Up to date marks posted!!! please have a look and see if I've entered all numbers correctly...
Today we almost finished reading Animal Farm together...you'll have to finish off the last two pages on your own. Look for examples of irony - particularly at the very end.
We attended a Cambie theatre production of Almost Maine today - FANTASTIC! Congratulations to those of you up on stage. We'll spend a few minutes complimenting you at the beginning of class on Tuesday.
Homework- READ! (next Reader's WS tba) and on Tuesday you will hand in Ch 9 &10 5 quotes/5 explanations.
Next week we will begin a major piece of writing based on Animal Farm so please ensure that you've read the whole novel.

10s- Today students presented their piece of propaganda and we began our SMART reading of Chapter 8. Students need to complete chunk 1 pg. 61-64 , chunk 2 pg. 64-69 , and chunk 3 pg. 69-end of chapter fact/inference bullet points for homework. You should get between 3-5 fact/inference notes for each chunk.
We'll do the quickwrite, end pieces in class next day.
Students need to bring their $5.00 and permission form to class on Wednesday so that we are ready to go to see the play on Friday.

10s- Today we talked about and looked at examples of: fact, opinion, and bias. We'll move our discussion on to propaganda next week and look at what happens when the line between fact and opinion becomes blurry.
Today we also read Chapter 5 together. Over the weekend students need to read chapter 6 and 7 and complete rough work for study guides for 5, 6, 7 ***don't forget vocab! Chapter 5, 6, 7 work will be checked on Tuesday April 10th.

10s - Today we considered journal question # 7 - how is your education going so far? Some interesting thoughts and discussion...we'll do one more journal entry before handing the next set in.
Russian history and political ideology 101 - how does Orwell use historical events to shape his writing? We raced through some (not all) of the parallels between Russian history and the characters/events in the novel so far.
Homework: Chapter 4 study guide - Q + A - rough work due Wed April 4th.
