Thursday June 7

11s- Today was the final Literature Circle meeting...a good job everyone.  It was great to watch you develop into groups that helped each other make sense of a shared piece of reading.  Well done!

Monday is our final meeting together - have your toast ready and be here to celebrate what we've achieved this year.

10s- Today we continued to practice for the Provincial - particularly Part C.

Monday is our last hurrah, make sure you've got your novel/poem presentation ready to go!

Tuesday June 5th

11s-  We're almost there...only two more classes...I'm going to miss you guys...

On Monday June 11th we will celebrate our year of working together.  Each student will deliver a 1-2 minute toast to the class.  Today we went over the specifics.  You must write your toast out in order to participate.  Keep it positive, keep it about our year of work together.

We also wrote a year end reflection on our reading.  The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Final Literature Meeting on Thursday June 7th - Be ready to work the final pages of your novel and share your experiences of reading together, as well as a 'book report' to your peers.

10s-  Okay...so close...the Provincial is breathing down our necks (what poetic device is that?).

Today we talked about strategies for multiple choice and essay/written answers, and made a list of what to bring to the exam.

You should have handed in your 2 poem T-chart + compare/contrast paragraph.

For Thursday:  complete your life events spectrum,  isolate the BIGGEST event, dig deep and work your way through each level (1-5), focus in on the message.  Next day we will look at past essay topics and draft a narrative essay.

For Monday June 11th- ensure that you've got your novel/poem comparison ready to share.  We'll celebrate our year together.

Friday June 1

Welcome to June everybody!  We're almost there, we've still got some work to do, but the end is in sight.

11s- Today was Literature Circle #3.  Our next and final meeting is next Thursday June 7th - you'll be handing in your preparation work for #3 and #4 on June 7th.

Before the Lit Circle meeting we talked about the flow of the next few classes and what to expect.  June 5 - final reading check-in and reflection, June 7 - final Lit Circle meeting, June 11 - our final class together!  Time flies!

10s- Today we continued to practice Provincial exams...we talked about study an test taking strategies.  Apparently chocolate milk and apples work for a few of you. Who knew?!?  We also worked our way through Part A and Part B of the August 2007 exam.  For Tuesday you need to choose 2 of the poems that we have studied together and make a T-chart that lists the similarities and differences...using that chart write a paragraph that references BOTH poems.  Think about theme/images/devices.

Have a great weekend!
