Thurs Feb 21

Today we were busy.  We started with a reading goal check-in, and a PMI review of our two guest speakers.  We wrote thank you notes and signed a card which I will forward to our visitors.

We then began to talk about inferences and what they are.  We worked through a short piece together and then read Chapter 5 together and followed the same process for making inferences.

Homework:  finish inferences sheet for Chapter 5, read Chapter 6, read your independent novel

QUIZ chapter 1-6 on Monday the 25th - make sure you are familiar with the events of the first 6 chapters of the novel.

Tues Feb 19th

A big thank you to RCMP Constable Fox for coming in and working with us today.  We learned a lot about youth justice, restorative justice, and what it takes to be a police officer.  We had another chance to try out a restorative justice circle...and shared findings with each other.  A great class!!!

HOMEWORK:  Read Chapter 4 - choose 3 important quotes - write them down with page number and jot down (bullet points okay) why they are significant/important.

As I won't have an opportunity to show these to you in class, if you're feeling a little uninspired to do your daily reading...here's a bit of inspiration.

We begin our new unit this week!  Looking forward to it!
