Thurs Oct 20

10s - today most (not all) groups presented their Animal Farm research.  For next day make sure you read/reread Chapters 2 and 3...I feel a quiz coming on.

9s - I stamp checked Media Log #1, we worked on Media Log #3 (Teen Misrepresentation), and got ready for next day with vocabulary that will enable students to understand what Jean Kilbourne shares.

click on McRoberts - this leads you to the library website
click on the tab "catalog" - this leads you to the databases the district subscribes to
select World Book (bottom right hand corner) - this leads you to different versions of World Book
click on Timeline - select "European History" from the navigation bar on the left
select European History after 1500 - scroll to the right to find the entries for 1915 onwards

to go to go World Book Students, go back to the library databases
click on World Book (bottom right hand corner), select Students
type your search term in the search bar - World Book


Today the class got started with the Animal Farm Background project...  groups assigned, research begun... Next class the focus will be on research and developing your Power Point.

Homework:  Animal Farm Chapter 1 study guide - I will recheck this on Friday...too many students just weren't ready.  No mercy on Friday....get it done!  oh, and READ!

9s - Today we reviewed the 6 roles of the media, met A Maslow and considered his hierarchy of needs, analyzed ads, and had some fun with slogans.  A busy day.

10s - Today we began our new unit - Animal Farm.  We covered Orwell's life and influences and got into reading Chapter One.

Over the weekend, please ensure that you finish reading (or re-reading) Chapter One and complete the definitions/character chart/questions.  I will stamp check this work on Wed.

Homework:  READ, finish Chapter One work, and for some of you - get your 'I am the reader' piece sorted out.

9s - We began our media unit with some definitions and roles.

Homework:  READ, finish 6 roles - make sure you have a copy of the roles and a response to each.
