11s- Today we read an article by William Golding, "What Turns Children into Savages?" which is about human nature, discussed Golding's ideas and how they are reflected in the novel. We also skimmed over some key ideas/quotes/scenes included in Ch 1-4. We began reading Ch 5.
Test Monday Jan 9th that covers Chapters 1-5:
Part A Author Biography - 8 marks - look at articles, review ideas re: why boys not girls...
Part B Characters - 9 marks - matching - do you know the characters?
Part C Plot Summary - 12 marks - covers what actually happens in first 5 chapters - have you read the novel?
Part D Deep Thoughts - 25 marks - choose 5 of 7 questions/quotations that deal with the deeper issues and ideas of the novel. You will need to write a few sentences for each of your choices. These are worth 5 marks each.
10s- Today we began our short story unit and looked at some preliminary short story terminology. Students wrote a short story about something that happened during the holidays, swapped and tried to isolate the setting, rising action, climax of stories written by others.
